Jacoby Ballard

Jacoby Ballard E-RYT 500 is a yoga and meditation teacher based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Jacoby received his 200-hour teacher training from the queer sangha of Kashi Atlanta in 2004, and his 500-hour training from Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in 2010, with additional training from Yoga for 12-Step Recovery, Street Yoga, the Lineage Project, Little Flower, Hala Khouri's Trauma-Informed Training, and Off the Mat, Into the World. He serves as Faculty of Off the Mat, Into the World and Adhikara Yoga School, on the Advisory Council of the Yoga Service Council, and has consulted with Lululemon, Yoga Journal, Insight Meditation Society, and Yoga Alliance on best practices in integrating spiritual practice, social justice, equity, and trauma-informed practice.

 

In 2008, he founded Third Root Community Health Center, a worker-owned cooperative in Brooklyn offering yoga, herbal medicine, massage therapy, acupuncture, and health education workshops, which practices healing justice-healing as imperative to social justice, and justice as imperative to healing completely.

 

For the past 14 years, he has taught Queer and Trans Yoga as a weekly class, traveling workshop, and annual retreat, and teaches yoga annually on the LGBT Meditation Retreat at the Garrison Institute.
